Thank you everybody. It is the 'insert sheet from file' that does the job for 
me.

I couldn't find it in the help docs because I wrongly focused on looking for 
info on 'import file into sheet' rather than 'insert sheet from file'.

Just shows the need for more lateral thinking. Thanks again.

Hi Philip.
In the menu 'Sheet' there is an insert sheet from file. This will insert 
the CSV as a new sheet.
