I rebooted.
No changes.
Still I am unable to have USB ports working on Virtual Box.
After intensive search I found the following:
Solution:
within /etc/fstab change the following line:
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0
SUCCESS!
I followed the instructions here:

I have installed Windows XP in VirtualBox on Ubuntu 8.04 for
at least couple years now and it functions perfectly.
Yesterday I installed Chrome OS in VirtualBox again on Ubuntu 8.04
succefully.
But when it came time to add the Guest Additions from the Devices
in the Menu Bar, was impossible.
So
