[vchkpw] mysql or ldap?
Hi.. I have just installed qmail and want to use it as independent from /etc/passwd file. For this reason, I have downloaded vpopmail. I need suggestions from experienced qmail users before installing it. Should I used LDAP or MYSQL or what..? Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks..

I have installed qmail+vpopmail ,bur have a problem. 1. qmai-inject and smtp-deamon inject mails into and look for mailboxes in $HOMEDIR/Maildir 2.Vpopmail tries to pop the mail from /home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.com.tr/ihsan/Maildir 3.When I manually copy the content of $HOMEDIR/Maildir to /home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.com.tr/myusername/Maildir, the pop client sees all the mail in the mailbox but unable to read them. 4.qmail-inject sends mail to outside world succesfully. 5.When qmail gets an e-mail for an acccount who has'nt got a homedir (even if he has a Mailbox in home/vpopmail/domains/mydomain.com.tr/myusername/) qmail deamon returns the Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1) error message. I think , qmail and vpopmail are not agree on the place of the Maildirs.. Help is appreciated..

Hi.. I am in trouble to run qmail-pop3d by tcpserver, and therefore i use it wit xinted. At the monent, smtpd servise is locked after I tried to run qmail-pop3d with tcpserver. qmailctl stat shows everything normal but I can not get connected to port 25 when I try telnet 127.0.0.1 25 or telnet server.ip.address 25 I need urgent help. qmailsmtpd deamon responds and immediately braks [EMAIL PROTECTED] qmail-1.03]# telnet 127.0.0.1 25 Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to 127.0.0.1. Escape character is '^]'. Connection closed by foreign host.

Hello Guys.. I am just installed a qmail+vpopmail , and the server was running nicely for a couple of days. But today , It started to give the following "no_mailbox_here_by_that_name" error. 40003e6c896f0f6b51ac new msg 8140003e6c896f0f6b6d04 info msg 81: bytes 228 from [EMAIL PROTECTED] qp 1182 uid 040003e6c896f0f9d5e2c starting delivery 1: msg 81 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED]40003e6c896f0f9d759c status: local 1/10 remote 0/2040003e6c896f0fdc0d0c delivery 1: failure: Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._(#5.1.1)/40003e6c896f0fdc2c4c status: local 0/10 remote 0/2040003e6c896f10288b14 bounce msg 81 qp 118540003e6c896f10289e9c end msg 81 - Then I deleted the domain and regenerated from the scratch, now it seems ok. But I could not understand the reason. /var/qmail/control/locals file seems to be EMTPTY now. Is this the normal situation? After the regeneration of the domain in question, my message format looks like the one below. As I understood from my experiences (no time to read at the moment,because my Exchange Server has crashed..), the /var/qmail/control/locals file should contain NOTHNG if we use vpopmail with qmail. Is that right.? Yes. Here's an excerpt of the qmail-send man page: qmail-send handles virtualdomains after locals: if a domain is listed in locals, virtualdomains does not apply. This implicitly means that a domain should always be _either_ in locals _or_ in virtualdomains. Jonas
