[vchkpw] Virtual Domain - Receiving but cannot retrieve

2002-12-26 Thread George Minich
Seasons Greetings to all on the list! I have a question that deals with
qmail/vpopmail and multiple domains. I have configured a second domain
using the vqadmin.cgi. When I look at the various config file and directory
structures, all look fine. When I send a test message from a domain
external to my physical location, the message arrives to the user in the
correct Maildir. The problem is that when I log in via a POP3 client, the
new messages do not appear. When I look in the maildir directory, they are
there. I have tried this with the default postmaster user and another
test user that I had created. I used Outlook Express to test this.

Here is the message data just in case it helps:

Re: [vchkpw] Virtual Domain - Receiving but cannot retrieve

2002-12-26 Thread George Minich
My stupidity has shown itself again. When I was creating the Outlook email
account, I did not follow my login name by the specific domain that I was
testing. Of course, I had the same user name configured under the default
domain. Thus, no error messages.

Thanks!

George

[vchkpw] qmail/vpopmail default limits?

2002-09-29 Thread George Minich

  Hello all,

I was just wondering if there were any types of limits on a default
qmail/vpopmail installation? Are there limits such as number of users that
can connect at a given moment or similar limits. Message sizes would be
another good one. I took a look around but could not find anything obvious.

Thanks

George

[vchkpw] Qmail Vpopmail Backup

2002-09-23 Thread George Minich

Now that I have my email server just about
ready to fly, I would like to ask about server backup strategy. What is
the most effective method of backing up all OS email configuration and
data? I was thinking about first dumping to another machine via the
network and then going to tape. If this is done, I would imagine that TAR
should be used. Does this method capture all data properly? I have
been looking at the DUMP command but am not 100% certain as to which is a better
alternative. Are 3rd party backup applicaions a better
alternative?

I would like daily complete backups if
possible. I do not see this machine growing above 30 gigs any time
soon.

Thanks

George

[vchkpw] qmailadmin user problem

2002-09-21 Thread George Minich

 Hello all,

I am aware of the issues with vpopmail,
clear-text passwords and qmailadmin. First, I have tried to re-compile and
install vpopmail without the clear-text password support. However, once
the install scripts run and I create a user, that user has a clear text
password. I had deleted the entire vpopmail directory and the other
necessary files under the qmail directory.

Running with the above situation, when I
attempt to use the ./vmoduser -C "" [EMAIL PROTECTED]
to clear the clear-text password, that user still does not show up under the
qmailamin user listing for the domain. It seems the only way to have a
user appear under the qmailadmin listing is to create the using using
qmailadmin. Am I missing something?

 Thank You

 George

[vchkpw] Development versions

2002-09-21 Thread George Minich

If you do not mind me asking, is anyone
using the DEVELOPENT versions of Vpopmail and the addon packages in a
development environment? If so, have you had problems and/or loss of data.
Based on the docs, the latest and greatest looks mostly like bugfixes.
Should I be concerned with rolling it out in a small ISP
environment?

Thank You

George

[vchkpw] Vpopmail virtual domain postmaster error

2002-09-19 Thread George Minich

 Hi all,

I have just configured vpopmail with qmail
and I have a minor problem with an incorrect postmaster address informing me of
failed transmission. I have the system configured for virtual domains only
and have setup 3 domains. No matter what domain I use, when a error is
reported from the postmaster, it always uses the address of the primary
domain. It also prefixes the incorrect domain name with the host name of
the machine.

For example: user [EMAIL PROTECTED] sends a
message that a remote serverrejects. user xxx receives a message
from [EMAIL PROTECTED]
telling user xxx that there was a problem. The message should have came
from [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Can this be corrected?

Thanks in advance

George
