Not really. A lot of folks are using diff types of hardware. The folks
using xcat are primarily using bladecenters. Most everyone has gone
straight vmware ESX/ESXi.
We have mostly bladecenter E chassis
2 Ethernet switch module
1 Management modules
2 Power modules
2 Cooling modules

It seems like a lot of the VCL instances are running on BladeCenter
hardware. I have a chassis and a few blades but I suspect I do not have
enough I/O modules to install the VCL to it. Does anyone have a list of the
hardware they are using so I can compare it with what I have?

For VCL's purposes - deploying images for short durations, LVM doesn't really
provide any benefit. LVM adds a logical layer between the filesystem and the
physical storage so you can do things like have a single partition span
multiple di
To any who are interested, the open source tool "Clonezilla" works with
LVM2 (not LVM1) very well. It may not be as robust as Partimage, but many
people are using LVM now, so it is a solution. I'm still not clear on the
benefits of LVM to be honest.

partimage cannot handle partitions installed under LVM. You need to install
it with ext3 directly.
