If you go all the way to NB 6.5.2 or higher (and I'd definitely recommend not stopping there), you've got an additional optional available for bpmedia that does not require the old servers still be around. The work seems to happen entirely within the EMM database and is a heck of a lot faster than

Just in case, if your AV is running during the backup, can u try to turn it off during the backup as a test only. Also, make sure TRACKER.exe is not running (Start / Run / MSCONFIG). Has the problem recently started? Any changes made before the problem occurred? Simon
