Hi All
In our step towards upgrading to 6.5.1 from 5.1 MP6 it has become
apparent that some media servers where not decommissioned correctly in
the passed causing inconsistencies between the media and image catalogs.
We have 2 media servers that I do no have a copy of the mediaDB file.
I am trying to exclude some exchange mailboxes from backup using policy on
NetBackup server, but client exclude property doesn't work, please advise me
how to exclude some mailboxes from backup.

I'm getting ready to start this upgrade early tomorrow morning and I had
a couple of last minute questions.
1.Anyone have an idea of how long it's going to take to recover a
350GB NBU 6.0 catalog backup from LTO2 tape?
2.I'm shutting down the old server and bringing up a new one with
the
I hope it has all fixes. Specially VCB backup.
Thank you.

Floyd,
This works fine, just be careful with the NBU release you
Check your Windows event log to see if you are having issues with
Snapshots. Even though you may be using VSP or nothing at all, VSS is
still used to capture the Shadow Copy Components and I have seen backups
fail due to VSS issues.

6.5.3 is due before the end of the year and per Symantec it addresses
several issues I've had with VCB. Last ETA was 2nd week in December I
believe.

All,
When installing NBU 6.5 on the identified master server, if you do not
identify a media server, will NBU default the master server as the
media server?
Thanks

If you go all the way to NB 6.5.2 or higher (and I'd definitely
recommend not stopping there), you've got an additional optional
available for bpmedia that does not require the old servers still be
around. The work seems to happen entirely within the EMM database and is
a heck of a lot faster than
Hi Steve
In that case, just configure a SQL Job to backup the files to disk, and
then do a file level backup to tape for the .bak / .trn file(s).

Hi,
I have been experiencing intermittent error 13 on the backups of a
certain client. The error only occurs when performing full backups.
Note that this client is a media server that backs itself up. I have
tried all the recommendations as per the detailed troubleshooting for

All,
Is it possible to configure one UNIX server to be the master and media
server in NBU 6.5?
Customer has a SUN T5220 server and wants to backup to a SL24 library.
The customer wants to config the T5220 as the master and media server.
(they do not want to purchase an media server).

Just in case, if your AV is running during the backup, can u try to turn
it off during the backup as a test only.
Also, make sure TRACKER.exe is not running (Start / Run / MSCONFIG).
Has the problem recently started? Any changes made before the problem
occurred?

That’s an option and one that I’ve suggested but the customer was hoping for a
‘hot’ backup solution.
I am going to try it and see what happens though I am not hopeful of it being
successful.

AV not running on the client, tracker has never been running, the
problem is quite recent about a month or so. No changes prior to the
