Re: [Veritas-bu] re-assign all tapes from one volume to another
Hi Boris Not sure of the version of NBU you are running, but I thought it was not easily done, as the vol DB and images DB need to be consistent, and changing the tapes from say, Pool 1 over to Pool 2, could cause some headaches. In the Admin guide, I see a VMCHANGE command, but I am not sure this is what you are after. I found this on the web http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/248093.htm http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/248093.htm a little old, but it may still be relevant. Unless someone else has a work around - What about duplcating the tape from POOL1 over to a new tape in POOL2 ? [Veritas-bu] Storage Unit
I am looking for a storage unit basically a NAS device that supports cifs, iscsi, and nfs. This device also must support FC. I need about 20TB. The plan is to backup archive data to this device. Data that hasn't been touched in 2-5yrs and then send the archive data to tape. Currently we are looking at the Overland Storage Snap Server 620. The only problem is it doesn't supports FC only LVD Scsi tape drives. Any suggestions or recommended products is appreciated. Re: [Veritas-bu] re-assign all tapes from one volume to another
So you use the GUI at all? Highlight all the tapes in the pool ( they must NOT be assigned - you cannot move assigned tapes) Right click and choose change - then pick the new volume pool for the tapes and click ok - all done. Then delete the old pool. Quicker then command line script. Or OpenSolaris running on an x86 server with locally attached JBOD, using ZFS for RAID and volume management. Snapshots and conventional compression are builtin to ZFS, and recent versions have deduplication (if you're careful to spec out enough RAM and SSD cache). The OpenSolaris builtin COMSTAR software provides iSCSI and FC targets hosted on ZFS-based storage. You can build this yourself, buy it from Oracle (this is their Unified Storage product), or check out Nexenta's distribution.
