couldn't delete it. Once I deleted it the catalogue backup ran fine. But
something is creating it and I think it's NBU when it does a backup. I
know, it doesn't make sense but I can't think of anything else.

not giving it the correct path as you mentioned. My guess is that it really
wants a path like /var/VRTSat/.VRTSat/profile/systruststore instead. That
is the directory that is currently on our file system.

As I suspected, it was the line in the VRTSatlocal.conf file. I made the
change to the line, so it now reads;
"SystemDefaultTrustDirectory"="/var/VRTSat/.VRTSat/profile/systruststore" .
This seems to have fixed the problem.

An update from Symantec. Apparently the current version of CCS allows you
to collect from bpdbjobs and bpimagelist and choose which to use for your
utilization reporting.

David,
I've done this many times for clients in the past. We have our own tools that
work with hand scanners as well as robots where we extract the vault inventory
from NBU and/or from the off-site vendor like Iron Mountain and provide a full
audit report.

You can also use bpimagelist to show you the oldest active backup in the
catalogue. Although it doesn't give you the date for when the policy was first
created, it will tell you how far back you can possibly go with that policy.

You can also use Data Manager to accomplish this. It's designed for legal

Mark,
For a single instance, I agree. For organizations that are constantly changing
retention of data and need to keep track of the original expiration dates and
manage shared data, especially for legal holds, it's an excellent solution.
