I did exactly what you are talking about. The VCS documentation assumes
you are doing an OS upgrade (upgrade the current Solaris 8 disk to 10),
but I did LiveUpgrade to a new disk. Because of that, I ended up doing
this:
- Bring up the node as Solaris 10 without VCS
- Manually installed the VCS
I just upgraded a VCS cluster from 4.1MP2 to 5.0MP3RP1 and for some reason its
types.cf didn't get updated by the installer and some agents didn't work
(DiskGroup, Share in particular). I got it working again by bringing VCS down,
copying in a pristine types.cf from a 5.0MP3RP1 cluster I
I am using the Zpool agent, and it was working fine in 4.1MP2 (with the patch
that added it), when it appears to have been a script agent. In 5.0MP3RP1 I
just upgraded to (the agent is a binary now), its not working, and it appears
to be because I have ZFS snapshots. From engine_A.log:

I'm installing a new VCS 5.1 cluster (on Solaris 10 x64) to cluster some
Solaris zones using the built-in Zone agent. However, unlike previous versions,
there is no ZoneName attribute for the Zone resource to define the very basic
name of the zone itself. I can't get the zone resource to work,

Hi Ryan,
Since VCS5.1 the zone info is maintained by the Service Group
VCS 5.1 treats Solaris zones quite a bit differently with the ContainerInfo
attribute on the service group itself over how 4.x and 5.0 handled them. It
appears to me that it only supports one zone in a service group. However, my
existing 5.0 install has some service groups with a Zone resource

Hi Ryan,
Yes, VCS Windows 5.1 is available as a standalone product. Here are the
specific details from the Software Compatibility List (SCL):
