Re: [Veritas-vx] Problem adding news disks on Veritas
Hi Tiago, Check this [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# vxdisk list c2t0d7 Device:c2t0d7s2 devicetag: c2t0d7 type: auto *hostid:* [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# vxdisk list c2t0d6 Device:c2t0d6s2 devicetag: c2t0d6 type: auto *hostid:oracle-04* Just run a vxdisksetup -i c2t0d7 Does it give any error. Do not force a setup. Another problem with the DAM (HDS) you are using is that it does not give a list of free luns. Please check if this LUN is already allocated. Updating sd.conf online is *generally* not possible with Solaris 8 because you can't unload sd driver due to bootdisk management. Solaris 9+ offers update_drv -f sd command to override this. If the boot disk is not managed by sd driver, you can unload sd driver but it requires to unmount all filesystems which are on disks managed by sd driver : this is quite equivalent to a reboot scenario. Re: [Veritas-vx] Problem adding news disks on Veritas
Hi Tiago, You have answered your question in your first email: numpaths: 5 c2t0d11s2 state=disabled c2t0d10s2 state=enabled c2t0d8s2state=enabled c2t0d7s2state=disabled c2t0d9s2state=enabled Luns 8 to 11 are multiple paths to the same disk, and veritas has chosen the controlling disk, as I call it, to be lun 7. Because luns 8 to 11 are the same disk, they will not show up in a vxdisk list output. Only the controlling disk will. You cannot initialise this disk, as the controlling disk (c2t0d7) is not enabled. If you wish to see 5 new disks, then you need to make them not multipathed. You'll need to do this on the storage array. If you wish to use it as is, then you may need to install the ASL (Array Support Library) for your HDS array. Hope this helps, Greg. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tiago Cruz Sent: Tuesday, 23 October 2007 4:40 AM To: veritas-vx@mailman.eng.auburn.edu Subject: [Veritas-vx] Problem adding news disks on Veritas Hello guys, I'm newbie speaking around Storage/Veritas, and I have one problem like this: I'm running SunOS 5.8, directly connected at one Hitachi Thunderbird 9200.
