i've resolved following this step and doing some test:
1) Add a new mirror-way to the volume on a new free disk
# vxprint -ht app_vol
Disk group: rootdg
V NAME RVG KSTATE STATELENGTH READPOL PREFPLEX UTYPE
PL NAME VOLUME KSTATE STATELENGTH
First I'd like to say Thank you to those who took their time and
replied. Here is what I asked:
Currently we are running VxVM 4.0 on Sun Solaris 8 SPARC along with EMC
(Clarrion and Symmetrix) storage arrays. The HBAs we are using on the
system are Emulex LP9002's and we are using
Ronald - I guess 'vxdg mv' requires an additional licenses ?
Other generic way of accomplishing this task would be like :
- Stop the apps accessing the volume.
- Mount the new volume
Eg : mount -F vxfs /dev/vx/dsk/appvoldg/app_voltransfer /app_tmp
- cd /app
- cp -Rp /app /app_tmp
- Once

It requires FlashSnap. (which adds another kind of log to keep track of
detached mirrors to enable fast resynch, as well as enabling moving of
disks between diskgroups)
