Mono has different characteristics than rgular thread.Resists better to toothy critterif you want a clear fly./head. E.g. salt water, shrimpsIf you want _no_ color, even black is not ok.I use it seldom, only for sort of saltwater flies, which I seldom tie. E.g. the electric chicken.Rene

While we are talking about not wasting material I will post this. I use the wire right off the spool not wasting the small lengths of leftovers that are too short to use anywhere else. When wrapping lead wire start with the tag end from the spool  on the hook shank. Hold it with your finger and
