Mono has different characteristics than rgular thread.
Resists better to toothy critter
if you want a clear fly./head. E.g. salt water, shrimps
If you want _no_ color, even black is not ok.

I use it seldom, only for sort of saltwater flies, which I seldom tie. E.g. the electric chicken.

Hi All;

A couple of questions concerning rope dubbing with mono:

I've used mono tying thread and regular 6/0 uni thread with good results and no thread breakage.

What's the purpose of using regular mono? Economy?

Also, I never thought about winding material from one spool to the other in the same direction, does that practically eliminate twisting?
