Just a little bragging- but fishing related.
I got my new bamboo fly rod late last week, and from none other than Tony
Spezio himself. Who-h! It's really special to me, and I know how much
effort went into it and how long it took because Tony has been recovering from
some problems the
Why I carry my .50 cal. SW up at the Canada border and in some
Wyoming locations.
Our Alaskan fishing guide found that a .454 worked nicely:
This was just down the road from where we were camped. The thin
aluminum skin of the RV wouldn't have been much protection from this
guy.
Don O;
If you have the money, the Lamson Lightspeed is a great reel for what you are
telling us, one that is befitting such a good quality rod.
I believe it is made of titanium and has a wonderful drag system.
It is a little pricey, but a very good quality reel.
Thank You,
Alan Di Somma

Hi DonO;
What size/weight is the rod? Is it perhaps a 7', 2pc SirD 4wt?
If so, that's a fairly light/fast rod, finding a classic reel that will balance
it will be a challenge, you need a fairly light reel which classics typically
aren't unless your talking a Hardy lightweight which can be a
A-haaa... good point. But i don't fish with my ear muffs.
I could buy the sound-amplifying ear buds, which then automatically block off
at loud noises. Cabelas has them. I'm considering them just so I can hear
better. A little bit of background noise (like a noisy river or the wind) and
Wayne, Thanks! It's a 4wt, 2 piece, 7'. Calls for a 4wt DT line.
Since these rods are all hand-made and different, should I see if I can try out
different lies to select one that casts the best?
Thanks for the info on the reels. I'll start shopping.

For the price you can't beat The Aqua Nova lines. They come out of Canada. That
is what I use on my bamboo rods. As far as a reel that will balance with by
bamboo rods, I use reels from Dorber also.

Don,
I don't test cast a rod before it is delivered so you will be the first one
to cast it. Being that it has a twist to it, maybe a 5 wt might cast better
thhan a 4 wt that the taper was designed for. Mine cast great with a 4 wt but
Wayne's cast better with a 5 wt. You will have to check it
Oh you lucky dog. Sounds fabulous.
As for a reel have you thought of the Orvis CFO Its nice and a super
piece of engineering.

Hi Rick;
I need to pay for my hooks for the swap, I come up with approximately $65.31 so
round off to $66.00 and would like to use Paypal. Do you need more money for
Paypal fees? If so, what would be total and what's your Paypal address?
Sincerely;

I would go for a TR1 as the best size for your rod, especially if you can get
it at a preferred price.
