I'm not much of a Facebook person. So I don't usually post on it. I do "see"
Rick Zieger of some of the fly fishing web sites I frequent. I'm still
flailing away at the water. Doing mostly warm water fishing these days.
Currently, working on some frogs for the upcoming bass season. I'll

Sad to hear. Tony taught me a lot about fly tying when he was living in New
Jersey. Can't count the number of times he asked me to come to Sowbug. Work
and lack of vacation time always got in the way. Maybe 2021. Who knows.
Think I'll go up and tie a couple of his Froggies.

The only caddis swap I remember that I participated in was the Y2K swap. After
that I could tie the CDC and Elk blindfolded. I don't remember that one, Rick.
I thought I did but I was thinking of one of the FF@ "Illustrated Pattern"
Swaps. I didn't participate in any of them, but won a copy
I have a couple dozen spools of the Gudebrod wrapping thread. I know I have, I
guess it would be Garnet and probably the Candy Apple red. It's a bright red.
Not much left on the spool though. Going back to the Chili Pepper, I've had
better luck with it for warm water species. I've caught
Just go back from a week of fishing a couple of lakes in the Poconos. Had good
weather, fishing was off most days, catching 6 and 12 bluegills and red ear
sunfish, with an occasional bass or chain pickerel. One day it exploded, I
ended up catching 36 sunfish, the majority between 8 and 10
Nothing right now. My sister handed me a bag of "slightly illegal" South
Dakota pheasant tails when I went over for dinner last night. My niece's
husband and a friend had shot them. Since he's a fly fisherman and they'll be
moving to Vermont in a couple of weeks. Figure I should tie him up
Wes:
Basically, jigs aren't really designed for fly fishing. I've never seen a 30
degree jig hook. Looking at my non-fly fishing catalogs, I see 90, 60 and 45
degree jig hooks. 90 degree jigs are designed for vertical jigging. I use
them when I'm fishing from a boat for walleye. You
Happy New Year, All. As I sit in my comfortable living room watching thousands
of dollars worth of fly tying materials march up Broad Street in the annual

I've heard of it. Even tied a few. Learned it from an older guy in the club
I belong about 25 years ago. I was looking for a pattern to match a particular
hatch. I don't think I've tied since then.
