Just got off the phone with Don O. He is still in the Hospital and
plans are for home to come home either tomorrow or the next day.

The surgery went very well. He is no longer in pain. Dr found the
problem and fixed it.

Know he has been in all of our prayers. He sounds good.

He really sounded good. Still some post op pain but the old pain is
gone. Dr found the nerve problem and fixed it!

Have a good one

Don is having brain surgery today (assuming they can find his brain
 instead of Buggs' or Veronica's).

Don has been having severe pain from trigeminal neuralgia, which is a
pain more severe than about any other pain a person can have.  To
correct it, they are going to have to open his skull and work past
his brain (actually move it aside) to get to the trigeminal nerve.
Once there they will correct the problem. I assume that means clip
the nerve.   Then they will reassemble his skull.

It will be a 2 hour (plus or minus) surgery and he'll be in the
hospital at least a couple of days.  In the good old days he would
have been in the hospital a week or two.

If anyone wants to send a card, contact me and I'll send you an
 address this evening OFF-LIST.

I have the Ott light that is very similar. I love the light but miss having
a long flexible arm on my light so I can position it where I want. My
sister gave it to me so that is what I use. The Ott light keeps colors
pretty true which is nice and seems to be easy on the eyes. But if I were

Look carefully at the light. The bulb should be two long tubes. A single
tube will not give you the light you need. I found that without the
flexible shaft that I could not position the light from the foldable light
where I needed it to tie well without it shining in my eyes. Joyce

[VFB] DonO Update

2010-04-30 Thread Jimmy D. Moore
Hi Gang:

Denny Conrad talked with DonO earlier today. Don was still in the
hospital, but doing well. Surgery was successful. The
doc found the nerve and fixed the problem. Except for a little post op
pain, he has none of the BIG pain anymore. Should be
coming home in a day or two.

As we all know, prayer works wonders and there were plenty VFB'ers
praying for him.

2010-04-30 Thread Jack Lehman
I have one like that, sitting on a shelf. It provides plenty of light,
but I found that it was too short, I had to clamp it to something to
make it work.

Ott lights are great. Yes, they are expensive, but I find them in the
craft stores, and use those 40% off coupons that are usually in the
Sunday paper. If you have a Frye's, an electronics store, I find them,
and the bulbs, much cheaper than elsewhere.
