The very cheap line is likely Chinese made. Are they both weight forward lines or both double tapers? You can’t really compare if they are not the same. For floating lines, it remains to be seen if they continue to float after normal use. It is not casting distance but overall performace that

Folks: About 2-3 weeks ago, I ordered a $59.95 spool of Orvis fly line as it was on sale for $29.95. It casts great. BUT, that same day, I ordered a spool of no brand of eBay because it was only $5.99 plus 99 cents shipping just to see what the difference is between the higher dollar brand name
