[VFB] RE: Picric -

2010-02-15 Thread Neville Gosling
The BIG question is where can one obtain some in Canada?

- and I better not try while the Olympics are on or I will get arrested.

Last week the police and security closed the streets and evacuated an
area of North Vancouver due to a supicious object. It was blown up
with the aid of a robot. It turned out to be a fishing rod in a tube.
Does the lifetime warranty apply?

Picric acid is 2,4,6-tri-nitrophenol. As with other highly nitrated
products, it is an explosive. However, it's also a BRILLIANT yellow
with a slight orange tint and makes a great dye. In the early years
of its discovery (1700's, that's what it was used for. Widipedia
says its first use as an explosive was in the mid-1800's. Probably
when some clumsy chemist dropped a bottle of it and it went boom!

Chemistry lesson over. Now you can go back to your regular
 programming.

I assume so if it is a lifetime warranty and you can get all the pieces back to
the manufacturer
