be possible to setup a cron job to record this thing, since its
on before I typically wake up anyways. But, I have no idea what card to
get. This is the first thought I've put into videocapture under linux.
I would appreciate all suggestions as to what to buy. Thanks.

This can be disregarded, since I sent it in OCTOBER and have since gotten
a card.

Its not just you. They're coming, and in force.

I have a debian box pointed to unstable, which just decided to
upgrade to xawtv-3.30.
As it has done in the past, it broke things:
leko:~xawtv
This is xawtv-3.30, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.1)
visual: id=0x23 class=4 (TrueColor), depth=16
everything was working great with my avermedia tv/fm98. However,
when I upgraded to 2.4.1 from 2.4.0 the tuner settings got screwed
up (I have to fine adjust by like 10 units to get color) and sounds
no longer works.
Have anyone seen this?

I'm jumping into this thread because its subject seems relavent to my
current problem. I am using debian unstable, and it upgraded my
working xawtv 3.24 to 3.27, now I get the following error:
The app-defaults file is not correctly installed.
Your fault (core dumped)
What is the app-defaults
this stems from?
Thanks.

card, although xawtv only gives me the
autodetect and mono options. This seems to be a great card other than
these support issues, perhaps its just a bit new to have been worked on?
Any suggestions as to how I can record video with sound would be
appreciated.
Thanks.

I am looking to buy a tv capture card for my machine. I'd obviously
like to get one that's well supported in linux, so I figured this would
be a good place to ask. So, can anyone offer recommendations?
Thanks.
