One approach to dealing with the recent unreliability of Blip.tv and
OurMedia is to use both rather than just relying on one or the other.
Normal HTTP links require that you point to a single server, and if that
server is down, you're toast. With the multi-link feature that we're
testing out
who ever said there were problems with blip.tv? the Archive and blip
use a system where the video can be retrieved from multiple servers to
balance bandwidth...sorry but stop trying to knock on great services
like blip to promote your own...no one has ever complained about
blip...grrrOn

What happens if swarmcast goes down?
The software itself doesn't rely on swarmcast.net itself once it
installed. The 'swarmcast.net' part of the domain is simply

I should have been more clear. The swarmcast solution doesn't only
require swarmcast for generating the link. It also requires that
swarmcast be up and running for the link to work. Swarmcast is acting
as a redirector.

Interesting idea, but I for one would not want to use a link that requires the viewer to install software.
However this could probably be done on a server side solution - it could work alot like the tinyurl service except that the server has a 1-many rather than 1 to one map for urls
1. On my site, I'd enter all of the urls where my video is stored.
2. I'd then have a url like http://mysite.com/serve?latest-video.mov
3. When the url is requested, I would then check each url where that
video is stored, so I do a head request to ourmedia.org and if all is
well, send
