It's probably worth confirming that this spam was the user's fault. Several
lists I'm on have been spammed in the last week in this same way. I've also
gotten similar link spam from very trusted sources, including friends, family
and couple of my attorneys, all in the past week. Something else

Hey Videobloggers--
I do a pretty good job of weeding out registrations from spammers, but
looks like some spam has been getting through to the Videoblogging
Group lately.
Usually I ban any user after getting one spam message to the group,
but please let us know if we miss anyone.
Vlog on.

I agree with Sull If you have something to share... and you want to share it with other vloggers even if you did share it with the world on your vlog you can still share it here, by all means.Use your judgement... here's my litmus test. If you're just posting to say "look at this"
I recently sent off a Shameless Self Promotion note to this list. I have realized since that it is considered spamming to ask people to check out a piece of work. If that was not spam, disregard this entire note. If you think it was read on and let's discuss this. I wanted people from this list
Ron, I don't know if the group policy changed recently, but posting when you've done a particularly important vlog entry has not traditionally been a problem. Posting for EVERY vlog entry usually indicates that one's view of important is inflated, but you don't do that.

Speaking of spam (that canada vloggers thread)... it sucks that if you

Because we talked a few times about spam blogs and directories that
just suck in our content and put ads around it: here's a good post

I've been on the receiving end of several unsolicited e-mails
from Veoh this week, with no obvious way to opt out. I never
registered at their web site, so I consider these repeated messages
to be spam, pure and simple. if Veoh wants my videos, this is a
terrible way for them to go about
I've been getting stuff from Veoh.. as well as spam in my comments..
This must be spam week.. Damn Spam!
