2006-05-01 Thread usadutch2001

While for business in San Diego California last week I made a video

If you are in the neighborhood it is worth a visit.

Check their website here : http://www.midway.org

The video is here; http://vlogmatic.com

It is a combination of authentic material and my video, a lot of time
was spend on editing altough not always exact with sound I hope you
like it and feedback is welcome for sure.

[videoblogging] Re: Traffic incentive to use VlogMap today

2006-05-01 Thread LeanBackVids.com

You can use a few different maps, but the "geo finder" map is the
easiest to submit new vlogs and geovlogs...
http://community.vlogmap.org/maps/geofinder

Center the map over your location (default = NYC city hall) and zoom
in to get more precise.  You can move the map with your mouse by
double-clicking where you would like to re-center, or by clicking and
dragging the map background.  Clicking the center marker will cause
the map to zoom in one level.

Once the map is zoomed far enough (level 15+), the 'add marker at
center' links will appear.  Click on which type of content entry you
would like...

vlogs = sites
geovlogs = posts (or direct video links)

The link takes you to the submission form, which will be pre-populated
with the lat/lon from the location you chose.  Fill out the other
fields and that should do it.

Oh, and most of the maps have the `add marker links' so you don't have
to use the geo finder map.  You can use the world map, regional map or
geovlogged videos map too.

Advanced bookmarklet method:
http://community.vlogmap.org/handbook/geovlogging/bookmarklet

After setting up this bookmarklet, you browse to the specific video
post on your site that you would like to add.  Clicking the
bookmarklet will then send you from your site to the VlogMap
submission form (w/ the title and url pre-populated).

>From here, you can click the "geo finder" link under the lat/lon
fields.  That will take you to the map where you center/zoom to your
location.  Clicking the 'add geovlog' option will then bring you back
the form with your title, url, latitude and longitude all set up.

Now wasn't that easy?  HA!

Again, I'm very sorry about the documentation.  I'm working on adding
text, screenshots and screencasts of how to use the site.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hi Matt,

Is there a step-by-step tutorial for geovlogging? I tried to figure it

from my international travels and I'm eager to geovlog them, but
haven't had any luck yet.

[videoblogging] Fundraising to get to Vloggercon 2006

2006-05-01 Thread Lukas Blakk

Hi All,

I've started a fundraiser at fundable.org to try and get together
enough cash to buy a plane ticket to Vloggercon 2006.

Tomorrow I'll also be posting a vlog about this and  showing off the
incentive crafty item I've made for folks who donate $20 or more.

Basically, I really need to go to Vloggercon because after a year of
doing this - I want so badly to have the opportunity to connect with
all the other vloggers who will be there.  There are so many issues
that I am looking forward to discussing with other people who vlog -
Face to face, no less!

Anyway.  If you take the time to go to the link and make a pledge,
you'll be a total angel to me; the broke queer in canada.

Thanks in advance,

2006-05-01 Thread LeanBackVids.com

Yeah, those are custom feeds for each VlogMap user.

It allows others to keep up with vlogs, geovlog and revlog (soon)
listings of a specific user.

Sorry everything is a mess right now and thanks for the feedback - it
helps me understand how others use the site.

Gotta run out for a couple hours (just an fyi if you're trying to
claim a vlog).  Be back in a few hours.

Quick question ... when I go to my feeds page:  http://community.vlogmap.org/vlog/28There is a feed icon which points to a feed ... what feed is that?  It's not mine.  Is is supposed to be?
Also, from my user page: http://community.vlogmap.org/user/28if you click "View geovlog listings" it again gives a feed which has nothing to do with me ... are these supposed to be MY geovlogged items?
I love the look of the new site, and I like being able to claim the feed.  Just confused on a few of the feed icons and what they are supposed to be pointing to.Thanks, - Dave

[videoblogging] Traffic incentive to use VlogMap today

2006-05-01 Thread LeanBackVids.com

The launch of VlogMap 2.0 has been mixed...

Not many vloggers have contributed content, yet the site is getting
lots of traffic from the top story of Wired.com (and the launch
announcement)... this means that if you add comments, geovlogs and
forum posts today, you have a high probability of getting some traffic
to your site.

I just thought I'd point this opportunity out since VlogMap
desperately needs a kick-start, and who wouldn't like new visitors?

As for the organization and documentation, I'm aware that is
lacking... but there is a new map where you can "geovlog" your
individual video posts.  Just imagine if you were traveling to another
country and wanted to see videos from the towns you were planning to
visit.

Please note, the old site did not have user registration so everyone
will need to register for a new account in order to contribute
content.  If you've always wanted to update your existing information,
the new system also allows you to claim your vlog.

Thanks again for everyone's support over the past year.

[videoblogging] Introducing learning.now: a new PBS blog on education and technology

2006-05-01 Thread Andy Carvin

Hi everyone,

I'm very excited to announce the launch of a new blog, learning.now:

http://www.pbs.org/learningnow

The blog, which I'll be writing and editing for PBS Online, will focus
on the intersection of Internet culture and K-12 education. One of the
primary goals is to help guide educators through the ins and outs of Web
2.0, including blogging, podcasting, vlogging, RSS, social software and
community networks. I'm planning to explore some of the creative ways
students and teachers are using interactive technologies to improve
learning, as well as dissect the controversies that often occur when
classroom culture and online culture collide.

The website officially kicks off Tuesday, but I wanted to give you a
sneak preview of the site. And please feel free to offer any suggestions
on the types of subjects you'd like me to tackle on the blog. I'm hoping
this will be an engaging discussion in which I can learn from all of you
and share some of the exciting work that's going on in classrooms today.

Thanks,
andy

i term them, orphaned feeds and meta feeds rss feeds generated from social networks and hosting services most of which do not actually have a parent (vlog).  this is why i have always been vocal about the difference between vlogs and feeds/vodcasts/video podcasts etc.
mefeedia's wording on the site is contradictive in that the directory clearly is labeled 'feeds' but the 'count' uses the term 'videoblogs'.  since their are so many feeds in mefeedia from sites like vsocial, vimeo and blip mefeedia has a much larger # than you and my directory too.

The focus of the piece is on lip-synching to OPM (other peoples' music).

This is an excellent article about videoblogging. Ellen Lee, of the San
Francisco Chronicle, presents an accruate view of how some
videobloggers use vlogging to capture fleeting moments of life.

It's unfortunate that the headline writer totally missed the point of
the article by writing, "Online diaries looking a lot like television."

The whole point of the article is that most of the video blogs
highlighted in the story are not like televison at all.

If they print your email it'll probably have a headline like one of
these:

- East/West Feud Over Language Develops
- Twinkie Loving New Yorker Berates San Francisco
- Videoblogs to supplant Newspapers

And that's if they do it right.

What a right-on article. Glad to see Susan get some attention, as she
has been putting so much time and soul into her vlog.

The headline is deceptive---Unfortunately the person who writes the
headline usually isn't the one who writes the story.

Still, even with the lame headline, this is one of the better articles
I've read on vlogging.
