Yup, yup, we're on iTunes. Just search for Frisbeedog or discdog and you'll find us... I set it up a long time ago through Feedburner. I think that Blip exports quite well to iTunes as well. I haven't checked in a while... I know all about the big learning curve. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to learn and how fast things change. It's a never ending battle, or a continuous journey, depending on how the day's going. I'm sure some of the SIAB folk will help you out with your iTunes friendly feed. [videoblogging] Re: more of the same ... double take time
This turns out to be a Debunked story but sounds like the plan (RIAA) is to use the legal system to tie up multiple ends of the problem so that there would be a kind of circle of laws. The trouble with quick reads is mistakes happen in either the interpretation/understanding or the reporting is flawed. In this case the reporting was flawed I did not verify beyond a reading a repeat of the same story elsewhere. RIAA not suing over CD ripping, still kinda being jerks about it the big change from previous downloading cases is the RIAA's newfound aggressiveness in calling MP3s ripped from legally owned CDs unauthorized copies -- something it's been doing quietly for a while, but now it looks like the gloves are off. While there's a pretty good argument for the legality of ripping under the market factor of fair use, it's never actually been ruled as such by a judge -- so paradoxically, the RIAA might be shooting itself in the foot here, because a judge wouldn't ever rule on it unless they argue that it's illegal. Looks like someone may end up being too clever for their own good, eh? http://peaurl.com/8nfL Pawn Shops the Music on CD, junkyards of Today. Even so, new technologies don't usually kill off old media: That's the good news for the recording industry, as for the TV, movie, newspaper and magazine businesses. But for those old media to survive, they must adapt, finding new business models and new, compelling content to offer. The RIAA's legal crusade against its customers is a classic example of an old media company clinging to a business model that has collapsed. Four years of a failed strategy has only created a whole market of people who specifically look to buy independent goods so as not to deal with the big record companies, Beckerman says. Every problem they're trying to solve is worse now than when they started. Funny, but not funny, maybe ironic ... who knows.

Re: [videoblogging] Re: video gallery wordpress plugin?
hows about an easy way to view my archives as thumbnails that link to my wordpress posts? this sounds like a doable solution to me but i'm still completely lost. - david (non-coder increasingly frustrated with wordpress) agreed. This is our current challenge. How to make wordpress themes that are usefu to videobloggers who want to get beyond the diary format. Some people say WP might not be the right platform, but I think it makes sense since its so well supported. Im not talking about a lot of new copde that needs t be written, but better design of themes using existing WP functionality. The biggest thing we can do is start sketching (photoshop or by hand) layouts that you want for WP. this is the nly way we can figure out how to do it. [videoblogging] Re: Storytelling with Rich Media Networked Technology
Hey Sull, I've been thinking a lot about how to bring together video and text in the same container. Started out with Livestage Pro which was really the best, but sadly no longer exists. Quicktime has so much potential to do interactive. Checked out Sophie as well. I was very excited about Keynote - which does everything we want. But... no player. Keynote exports to quicktime, but the whole file needs to download before any interactivity can happen. And then I decided that the simple browser is what we should play with - CSS and embedded video. Not much in the way of interactive potential, but can play multiple simultaneous files and of course static text with video. There is Flash, but for some reason coding buttons just kills my energy. Would love to continue this discussion/experimentation! My hope is that many will be inspired to experiment with their own creations after watching what 'can be done' with video in order to convey+entertain. I think in a few short years, there will be a return of the ebook revolution where ebooks will be socially networked rich mixed media that will look and play on all platforms exactly as the creator intended it to be. They will be projects using any and all media formats that are available to content creators. They will be bloggy. They will be powerful. As a videoblogger, how do you feel about writing a text-only entry? As primarily an audio-podcaster, how would it be to one day make a video entry? How confident are we in mixing these media tools? Since I started videoblogging in dec 04, I have often felt that video was limiting to me, and part of my way out of that limitation was to use text and animations, like in this example: http://www.dltq.org/v1/?p=313 Daniel Liss from http://pouringdown.tv has been a big influence for me the last months, and I have begun to wonder how text and video work together, and how we could use these tools more freely. The text does not have to be in the form of text surrounding the video in the blog entry, or as subtitles on the video itself. Daniel's latest video is a great example of this: http://pouringdown.tv/?p=77 Anyway, I don't know how many others are interested in this topic, but this is a suggestion at least :) Best regards, Raymond M. [videoblogging] NYCLU Sues NYPD for Harassing Photographers
NYCLU Sues NYPD for Harassing Photographers December 6, 2007 -- The New York Civil Liberties Union today filed a lawsuit in federal court on behalf of a Columbia University graduate student of Indian descent who was unlawfully handcuffed and detained in July after a police officer saw him snapping photographs near a subway station in upper Manhattan. * http://www.nyclu.org/files/nyclu_complaint1.pdfThe NYCLU's Complaint (PDF) * http://www.nyclu.org/files/nyclu_letter_to_kelly1.pdfThe NYCLUs May 2006 Letter to Commissioner Kelly (PDF) The NYPD has a history of harassing photographers and violating their First Amendment rights, particularly those who fit certain ethnic profiles. This is the second lawsuit the NYCLU has recently filed against the NYPD as part of an effort to force the Department to adopt policies and training so that officers will understand and respect the First Amendment rights of photographers and filmmakers. In our society, people have a clear right to document activity in public places without being hassled by the police, said Donna Lieberman, NYCLU executive director. Arun was taking photos, something protected by the Constitution, but the color of his skin made him a target of suspicion. The police should know better than to engage in this sort of ugly, unlawful behavior. The plaintiff, Arun Wiita, a 26-year-old Columbia graduate student in the M.D./Ph.D. program, was arrested shortly after he embarked on a planned 10-day project of photographing all 468 subway stations and their surrounding streetscapes. He was standing on the sidewalk at 207th Street and 10th Avenue taking pictures with a point-and-shoot digital camera when an NYPD officer interrupted him. Though Mr. Wiita was entirely cooperative, explained his project to the officer and showed him his Columbia identification, the officer handcuffed Mr. Wiita had him stand on a busy street corner for a half an hour. During that time, the officer reviewed Mr. Wiitas pictures and called in information over his radio. Two plainclothes police officers also arrived on the scene, questioned Wiita and viewed his photographs. Following the public interrogation, the officers released Wiita from the handcuffs and allowed him to leave. I was surprised and upset that I could be handcuffed on the street for taking a photograph, Wiita said. What was really disheartening was that I knew this had probably happened before and that it could happen again to anyone. Christopher Dunn, NYCLU associate legal director and lead counsel in the case, said many other photographers have reported similar incidents and that the NYPD was fully aware of these problems as a result of a letter the NYCLU sent to NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly in May 2006. People cannot be arrested or handcuffed for taking pictures, Dunn said. Photography is fully protected by the First Amendment, and police investigations into photographers must be sensitive to that. The NYPD clearly has failed to sufficiently train and supervise its officers to ensure that people can take photographs without fear of police harassment. Also serving as counsel in the case are Timothy Foster and Benjamin Kleinman, who are NYU Law School students participating in the Civil Rights Clinic.
