[videoblogging] How to protect your privacy on Whois?

2006-01-29 Thread gmjoyce_y
How do you go about keeping your email, address, phone number, etc.
private when you buy a domain? Whois lists everything. What if you
don't want to be hassled by spammers or overly aggressive trolls?

Greg,it is possible do a whois on velvetsuite.com or jaegerrifle.com those are some sites I run. I used godaddy.com and paided the extra $1.95 for the private registration. The problem with this approach is that you need to have a current email address on the list. And that's what spammers want the most. If you put an old email, you may not be able to move the domain when you want to / have trouble renewing / etc.

There are services where you pay for someone to be a go between whois and you. I'm using the service at GoDaddy, too. It's a pain to pay extra on every domain I register (and i have a bunch), but it's worth keeping my info away from spammers.
