It's probably worth confirming that this spam was the user's fault. Several
lists I'm on have been spammed in the last week in this same way. I've also
gotten similar link spam from very trusted sources, including friends, family
and couple of my attorneys, all in the past week. Something else is going on
here.

Usually I ban any user after getting one spam message to the group,

I agree with Sull If you have something to share... and you want to share it with other vloggers even if you did share it with the world on your vlog you can still share it here, by all means.Use your judgement... here's my litmus test.  If you're just posting to say "look at this" you've maybe started to cross the line... but if you've got question or any point whatsoever then your probably fine.Pardon, I just had to email about my latest video post to my blog... it was technicaly a video to my mom, but i had a question on the quality of the audio.  Heh, I thought you guys might like to see this special sequence I did such and such thing, the graphic effect came out really neat or I shot some footage of the protests in San Fran yesterday, and though some of you might be interested in it because...My point is that if you've got a point, if you have someone in mind and your addressing... there's no problem with "self promotion"... because it's not self promotion, we talk about what we love, it's natural for that to be the things we're working on. It's only "self promotion" when it ceases to have any point other than promotion. So, post away.Besides, I've managed to skip 22,510 posts to this group since I started reading it, I think i can skip any such email that doesn't interest me. :PPeace,-Mike On Feb 10, 2006, at 4:35 PM, Michael Sullivan wrote: who said it was spam?On 2/10/06, Ron Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I recently sent off a Shameless Self Promotion note to this list. Ron, I don't know if the group policy changed recently, but posting when you've done a particularly important vlog entry has not traditionally been a problem. Posting for EVERY vlog entry usually indicates that one's view of important is inflated, but you don't do that.
My 2 cents.--StephanieOn 2/10/06, Ron Watson [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

registered at their web site, so I consider these repeated messages
to be spam, pure and simple. if Veoh wants my videos, this is a
terrible way for them to go about convincing me to work with them.

has anyone else had a similar experience?

Me too, more than one. They're starting to show up in my Gmail spam
folder already. This is because the Members list is viewable by all
members of the group. 1200 targeted email addresses, waiting to be
mined.

Veoh folks: Please stop. That's an abuse of the list, and I'm pretty
sure it's a TOS violation with Yahoo! Cut it out-- you don't want to
alienate your 1200 best leads.

I think the welcome message for this group should probably be updated
to let the more commercially-minded know that this is not acceptable.
