Re: [videoblogging] European VloggerCon Important Update!

2005-07-30 Thread Deirdre Straughan

ARgh argh argh. I will be in A'dam the 9th and 10th, but was planning
to fly to the UK the evening of the 10th because I'm attending a
wedding in Oxford on the 11th. Oh, well. I'll be glad to meet up with
whoever is in town/at IBC on the 9th/10th (write me privately and I'll
give you my mobile number). And I'll see whether I can swing it to
come for the following weekend as well (the flights are cheap).

 No, just some confusion.
You can choose between the 9-11th or the 16-18th weekends, the latter
will be focusing more on us the vloggers and not be some promotion
event for the media or whatever, during the IBC.
I would assume that the majority/all of the people flying in will be
there on the 16th (I know I will), as it will be more a social event,
like the vloggercues in the US.

At least that's how I see it.

Hey Deirdre, all

The way I see it, there will still be something organized on 9th-11th,
and even if you leave to the UK on saturday you can take part in some
of the activities that Gabe are planning. Gabe, where will information
about the european vloggercon be?

For those interested in the vlogeurope meet-up the weekend after, the
definite information will be at the wiki at vlogeurope.com:
http://www.vlogeurope.com/wiki

Some of us Eurovloggers will meet near the beginning of the
videoblogging conference tonight at 8 PM GMT and discuss the european
vloggercon, the meetup and the European Vlogosphere. That is, untill
the Americans fill the room and start talking about what goes on in
Seattle or NYC ;)

Alex Williams/Markus Sandy: Are there any chances of us European
vloggers to be able to book times for ourselves at the flashpoint?
Some of the conferences are at really uncomfortable hours for us -
like 2 AM here in Norway.. :)

Also, does anyone know How you create those quotes? I mean, how you
link to a specific point in the archive of a conference?

Here is all the information about the future videoblogging conferences
http://www.voxmedia.org/wiki/Videoblogger_Videoconferences

I really hope you can attend on the 16th-18th, Deirdre. It would be great!!

Best wishes to you all,

Hey all,

1) What Gabe puts together on Sept 9-11 will be a massive boost in our
visibility to Them (mainstream media, the professionals). It also
helps out Gabe's company, incidentally, which is fine.

2) What Duncan and myself will put together on Sept 16-18 will be a
different beast. Not completely different, we will not be
Anti-Corporate. But it will not so much be about us talking to them,
us posing for pictures from some CNN/BBC/whatnot journalist, but
rather us talking to each other.

I disagree with seeing 'the second weekend' as just a party. We can
have some pretty good discussions among ourselves, and we don't need
to consider the 16-18 event as merely some socializing backrubbing
thing. We Will have a massive party saturday night (17th), but there
will be a programme, and those missing out on The Big IBC Weekend or
who are not interested in that will still have fun, and be able to
learn from each other, and share experience.

I will myself be there on 16th-18th, and I hope you will too.

I don't know what would work best for Rocketboomers, big media event
or meeting some other vloggers. If you can, come to Europe for the
entire ten days. Plan some business meetings in the weekdays, attend
IBC, make a big splash, do some strange european newspapers like El
Pais or Der Spiegel, and then second weekend let's have a vlog-party
unlike any other.

I'm not going to be in Amsterdam
on 9/11, neither the 18/9 (it's a pitty). But I' d like to say something: for me what is inspiring is
dltq.org
. Not
http://www.ibc.org/, canon, etc. Talking about videoblogging, i mean.
