Re: [videoblogging] Re: Open Vlog on FOSS

2005-09-15 Thread Navin Dhanuka

Yesterday there was a meet of LINUX Localization.
I recorded it on my handycam.
I will edit and try my best to put it by Monday.

I think I will go ahead with WordPress.

Since mine is just a 500MB webspace, I am not going to upload videos
here. Vloggers can use the download button & link it to the video
files stored at say archieve.org .

Video tutes of Python & PHP are in making.

Any suggestions

Regards,
Navin Dhanuka..

2005-09-14 Thread andrew michael baron
I had a problem like this once, kinda, with my own music. The main
problem for me, however, was that I couldnt get anyone to listen to
it. No one would play it on the radio, no one bought CDs, my friends
didnt listen to it, my parents were not particularly impressed, so I
decided to embed it in an installation and put it up all around town
and that ended up working.

One idea could be to create a black booth or thrasher installation or
something and take the videos to them at the venues, er, bars, I
mean, backyard parties. Maybe build a little wi-fi station to help
get them in the mood of thinking about satellites and distant
communication methods or just put your videoblog up locally - showing
off cool videos of garage bands on a screen. Even with headphones it
might only be effective before the bands start playing. . .

That of course presumes we're all geeky enough to dig into the PHP error
logs. ;)

PHP should throw an error in $_FILES['userfile']['error'] letting you know
what went wrong ("1" for upload larger than the php.ini limit, "2" for
upload larger than the maxsize HTML attribute limit).

Whether Wordpress actually checks these values is another matter. But
that's a bug in Wordpress, not a fault of PHP. :o)

It's very possible you are butting up against the maximum upload default of
either PHP or Apache. PHP has a default file size limit for HTTP uploads
defined in the php.ini file on your server. Apache as a different upload
limit by default. If either threshold is crossed, the file you are
attempting to upload will fail without any obvious explanation why.

Look at 'taxonomy' as that's what they called 'categories' last time I
used Drupal...

Well, Ourmedia uses it...

It has good community features. I used it years ago for small projects
but never deployed it for any public sites.

I tried Drupal.
The default install doesnot have 'Categories' .
But it is supposed to be the one of the best CMS.
I am hacking it now.
