Re: [videoblogging] Rocketboom on CBS News

2005-08-21 Thread Markus Sandy

As I recall of California history...
many of the people selling goods and services to the gold miners made
out better than the miners
most of whom found no significant gold
(not to say that they did not find their fortune)
California experienced rapid growth, especially san francisco
someone built schlomo's bar over a 100 years ago
eventually Arnie became governor
and now schlomo vlogs

I'm not sure what all that means

I love the idea of making money, especially good enlightened people making
money. Go, Rocketboom, go! I love the show.

Kunga, you misunderstood my comment. Once some vloggers start breaking
through the ceiling and making money and a name for themselves, vlogging is
suddenly going to seen like California was seen in the 19th Century and
there's going to be a gold rush into vlogging by people only interested in
making a fast buck.

So do I and nor do I. But their work will make them rich anyway. And
there is nothing wrong with that. They will likely become the first

I told Andrew last Sunday at the NYC meeting that he would be "famous"
before he "realized it". That seems to be an understatement.

I don't know about $250,000.00 a year. That is actually frightening if it
isn't just hype. Vlogging will soon be flooded with copycats looking to
make big bucks the easy way.

Makes me think of someone I saw holding up a sign next to the highway not
long ago that read: "THE END IS NEAR!"

I just hope Andrew and Amanda don't get trapped into a long contract with
unattractive terms. Hope they have a good entertainment lawyer friend.

Fantastic! The Real Player full screen mode plays Immediately and
looks great on my 1600 x 1200 Dell flat panel Mac Dual 2.5 G5, 3 GB
ram, 10.4.2 QT 7.0.1 Steve. This is breakthrough for Rocketboom in
particular. But the story of being able to SUBCRIBE to the feeds ala
Video Podcasting was not told AT ALL. Nevertheless I predict that
Rocketboom's circulation will double in the next few months if not
sooner as a result of this exposure.

I wish David Pogue would do a piece for Sunday Morning on Rocketboom
and other Video Podcasts and how anyone can subscribe to them and
play them with iTunes on both Macs and Windows computers. We can't
subscribe to his VLog at NYT yet. But he should definitely plug that
as well. David could do a lot to help popularize this medium faster.
He would be the most influential person to be able to do so.

The sooner the masses understand that Web Video is a SUBSCRIPTION
thing they don't have to go get manually, the better it will be for
all of us.

And by the way is anyone here going to have a problem with a 15
second ad at the end of Rocketboom? I so go for a full minute Andrew.
Be the first Video Podcast to gross a million this year.
