No Andrew that isn't my attitude, I was simply stating that if you
have content online it is available to anyone.

I also think this is not an issue of privacy.
Its an issue of fraudulent business.
Its not about linking to content that you don't own as much as it is
about Blinkx possibly misrepresenting business partnerhsips they may

Re: [videoblogging] blinkx

2005-10-09 Thread Joshua Kinberg
I agree with this.

The article about Blinkx makes it seem as though they have a business
relationship with Rocketboom and MeFeedia, when that is in fact not
true. Whether this was intentional or by mistake is uncertain. One
might reasonably believe from the article that Blinkx sees at least a
promotional tie with Rocketbom and MeFeedia from which Blinkx hopes to
profit. It is more than a little shady for Blinkx to be touting such
partnerships when none exist, and in fact could damage the brands of
Rocketboom and MeFeedia if they do not wish to be associated with
Blinkx.

Legally, Rocketboom and MeFeedia could probably sue for such
infringement, though it would be pretty difficult to ascertain
damages. Best course of action would be to send a cease and desist
letter to Blinkx urging them to remove any references to Rocketboom
and MeFeedia and refrain from using these brands in association with
promotional materials or anything explicitly on the Blinkx website.

Its one thing to link to someone on the web. Its another to claim that
you have an explicit partnernship or business relationship that allows
you to do so.

Because there is a right way to have our content and a wrong way. It
seems like this is the wrong way, just like i638. But maybe it okay,
just trying to figure it out because it is an important and exciting
issue.

Some of us are concerned about transforming copyrights and malicious

The conclusions are based on conflicting information from you, news
reports and from Blinkx. I dont think anyone is jumping to
conclusions. All three can't be right. Its a process of "getting to
