Because visionary folks, and those creating the tools aren't always the
same group of people...?

I agree with most of what you were saying, but that might a talk for a
different day. :o)

If Apple wanted to promote video blogging (and not IPTV, video podcasts or
what have you) they should invest in making production easier. Wiring
iMovie for publishing to weblogs like Jay mentions. Making sure it's
easier to use footage from any kind of digital camera (don't know if they
already have this) and so on. And of course providing more intuitive tools
for adding stuff like simple links in movies. ;o)

Id rephrase the question to "How can Apple help promote videoblogging?".
i dont think Apple needs to change its business model.

in thelate 90's, I became a mac user becasue of their great video
editing programs.
iMovie and FCP were the best tools for amateurs to get started making video.
since then, they have always pushed this idea of personal creation-publishing.
shoot---edit--burn to DVD.

why doesnt apple add the next step?
shoot--edit--publish a videoblog with a feed.

I know Adrian Miles is attempting to create a hack out of iMovie that
will post to your blog automatically our of iMovie. Apple should be
the ones doing this.

I think that Apple as well as any other company could help educate
people on the idea of finding feeds and subscribing to them.
you know, the whole web 2.0 meme.
make the web come to you.
im amazed at how few people still understand this concept.

I have a question:
why arent all blogging platforms publishing RSS 2.0 feeds with enclosures?
Typepad just enabled the option but you must use their irrelevent
"podcast" badge that is hardcoded.
