I thought this list was vetted before stuff went out. What is going on? I am
receiving all kinds of crap mail.

We have several faculty members who are asking the library to get Rosetta Stone
language CD-ROMs. We are not sure if this is possible because of copyright law
since it has to be installed on computers and patrons have to log-in. Does
anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Farhad,
At Angelo State University, the Library keeps a copy of the Rosetta Stone for
Russian on permanent reserve. We have one dedicated machine on which the
software is installed. This computer is not connected to our network, has no
other software loaded on it, not even MS Office, and
urk! ak! ug!
Here's the deal: I was cleaning out the bounced crap from the list queue
yesterday and inadvertently hit the ACCEPT rather than the DELETE button.
Sorry...t'won't happen again.

Hi All,
Does any know of another distributor for this title? It was originally
distributed by UC-CMIL and it's not in Berkeley Media's catalog.

Their website, at least, does not include a library option for purchase,
and it has been my understanding that they do not currently allow
library purchasing . . .

Hi Chris and Gary--
Yolanda Cruz is a filmmaker from Oaxaca, who now lives in Los Angeles.
She's made a bunch of strong documentaries on the topic of Oaxacan migration
which she distributes here:

I have a list of international films that a university department wants to
show at a recruiting / department ''awareness'' event, each title represents
a one-time showing, Swank was able to quote 4 of the 11 titles, but what
about the rest of them?
Here they are:
(1) Stroszek

Hi Chuck...New Yorker Films has rights on Stroszek.

Sorry to say some or all of these may be difficult to impossible. It seems
likely that again some or all are owned by rights holders outside the US. I
looked very quickly at the first and fourth and one is long out of print
and the other as far as I can tell was never released in the US.
Farhad,
Transparent Language offers excellent multimedia language learning
software stored on a USB drive. The drive must be inserted in the
patron's computer for the application to work. The products are
distributed through Recorded Books. See:
Hello All,
Does anyone know who holds the rights for Mississippi and the 15th Amendment?
It used to be distributed through FMG but it's not any more.
Cheers,

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but you have just sent your user id and
password to the whole list. You may want to change your password. There were
a few emails this morning that looked like spam and that is why I did not reply
to them.

We just subscribed to Mango Languages. No idea how popular useful it will
turn out to be, but it is a hosted service with library subscriptions IP
access available, so that alone made it more desirable than the frequently
requested Rosetta Stone products.

We also have Mango, and we love it.
