Hi All,
Does anyone enable searching of your video collection by geography, and if so
do you determine that by the country where the movie was made or where it's
set? Or do you just rely on the 650/651/655 fields in MARC?
Cheers,
Matt

Hi, all,
A couple of months ago I asked if there was increased risk of degradation on
burned DVDs vs pressed DVDs. Someone responded, and I can't remember who. I
think the answer was that the burned titles can degrade. Also, someone
mentioned that the burned titles don't always play on
It's definitely true that some DVD-Rs (aka Burned discs) will not play of some
older machines. I have some customers here that cannot play Warner Archive
titles because they are MOD (Made on Demand) which typically means DVD-R discs.
I have not noticed any degradation on a DVD-R vs. a pressed
Hi Becky,
It's really difficult to give 'hard facts' on this question (playability
of DVD-Rs) -- there are just too many variables. Different kinds of
discs, different methods of replication / burning, different kinds of
players... We affix a brightly colored label to all of the DVD-R's in
Hi folks

fleetingly--contemporary immigrants from Africa in the US. I've got The
Visitor. Jim Sheridan's In America doesn't count (I discovered to my
surprise that it was made in the UK). And pls no Eddie Murphy Coming to
Gary: I can think of 2 features although the directors are not
originally from the US, GOODBYE SOLO and LITTLE SENEGAL. Don't know if
they'll count for you. I'll try to think of more.

Hi Terri:
If South Pacific Pictures cannot grant you PPR for Whale Rider directly they
could let you know who can.

If for any reason you don't get anywhere with that , contact Sony. They
seem to have a current contract for DVD rights and it is very likely that
whomever they have DVD rights from also owns PPR rights. In general if you

Might seem a bit odd but the Navy Corpsman in Battle: Los Angeles was a

Thanks Eileen. This is very helpful.
