We've used Disc-Go-Pod machines with much success fro many years. We have burned out a couple over time but they've been used routinely and have saved many high use discs. http://www.discgotech.com/ On Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 10:43 AM, Bergman, Barbara J barbara.berg...@mnsu.edu wrote: We found that using a disc cleaning service was a better option for the small volume of DVDs needing serious cleaning. Thanks for the response. Looks like the RTI machines have more chatter so far. We just received a flyer to purchase a VMI Hybrid machine for a mere $1,600.00. Though it is probably a good investment, that sounded a bit steep. But, then one does get what one pays for usually. So, I want to optimize our purchase with the best machine for the least money. But, I don't want to go cheap. In the past we have use the standard manual disc scratch remover things for about $30 bucks or so. Mixed results with that. Not really satisfactory. Mike, you recommend the VMI over the RTI machine. Does it really do a better job? Is it more reliable? I assume it might at least be more durable. Thanks for the info. Re: [Videolib] Recommendations on DVD scratch/repair machine or system
Thanks, Susan. Seems to me that an inexpensive system like the JFJ Easy Pro is at least a good place to start. Certainly we can always upgrade. I have been reading some good reviews about this system. Seems to be a win-win for the price. If anyone else out there has any recommendations, I'll take them. Jared We are a public library that uses the ECO-SENIOR from RTI. We purchased it approx. 6 years ago for $2800. I know they have newer/other models, but you have to call for pricing (I think). I love it. The discs look new and they can be repaired a handful of times (depending on the disc and damage). I had to send it for repair once which cost $300. It is simple to use and the supplies are also reasonable. FYI, I use it every week or two though it is made to be used on a daily basis. http://www.discchek.com/ Hope this helps, Melissa McHenry Gates Public Library Rochester, NY 14624 From: videolib-boun...@lists.berkeley.edu [mailto:videolib-boun...@lists.berkeley.edu] On Behalf Of Seay, Jared Alexander Sent: Wednesday, March 13, 2013 11:35 AM To: videolib@lists.berkeley.edu Subject: [Videolib] Recommendations on DVD scratch/repair machine or system Library Friends, I need some recommendations on good (moderately priced) DVD scratch repair machines/systems. Re: [Videolib] Recommendations on DVD scratch/repair machine or system
I agree entirely with Melissa---our RTI disc cleaning repair machine has been effective, easy to use and a real workhorse. It's been well worth the investment. We've used the basic ECO-SMART for years now with great success and never a hiccup. RTI recommended this model (over the more expensive models they could have promoted but didn't) for our less-than-daily use---mainly because it won't clog up if it sits between use. For us, their sales support people (Scott Jahnke in our case) were key to identifying the model that best matched our needs. Re: [Videolib] Recommendations on DVD scratch/repair machine or system
I have to reiterate what has already been said. We have an RTI- Junior in our biggest branch library and it has been running strong since 2001. We purchased a used (by Recorded Books reps) Senior model for our Main library and have had great success. RTI is a great company to work with they believe in service to their customers. We still have an RTI-VHS tape cleaner/inspector that works like a champ! Buy RTI!
