jocelyn's beautiful, DEG*pink*!, ma guiterre je te chante cd arrived
this afternoon and it's an absolute treat - wish i had an lp of same.
beautiful singing, beautiful playing - great music.
her renaissance guitar is a surprise to me too - it sounds so simple
and so complete -
Now maybe other people of the time were strumming from dusk until
dawn - but there is no particular reason to think they were.
on a taverna, fireside, hoi polloi level, i would think they were -
especially when played for dancing ... not an outrageous supposition,
me thinks.
-
The vihuela doesn't have to be a vihuela ... - 'yep. the manuscript
sounds interesting - i assume the precise tuning isn't mentioned but if
you would please post a visual of how the chords are set out, according
to Amat's system, that would be great.

thank you both.
i understood vengo to mean i go or i'm coming from and madre i
took as a term of endearment; an intimacy directed at mi linda amica
- something akin to little mother.
i've heard two versions of this song - both performed beautifully and
both just a little wide of
greetings -
would someone please be so kind as to provide the true meaning for the
following song:
De los alamos vengo madre,
De ver como los menea el ayre,
De los alamos de sevilla,
De ver a mi linda amiga.
... with my meagre understanding of italian and an even poorer
thank you waling - that's the one.
