them for publication using LyX, which I find much better for this than any
ordinary word processor. Vim is ideal for cutting, pasting, spell-checking
etc and all this is best done separately from the fancy stuff.

the latex code in English, but it still gets converted to Greek when I
run Latex on the result. Obviously I have selectlanguage{greek} in the
preamble.
I realize that this as much a Latex as a Vim question, but does anyone
on this knowledgeable list know of a solution?

If you don't use a US keyboard it's best to avoid characters that differ
on your keyboard. I've been caught out a couple of times like that, when
an upgrade changed my default keyboard and I found my password no longer
worked. I now avoid using, for example, # and @.

If I use vim instead of gvim, everything is normal. If I use gvim or

Smashwords to produce e-books. Unfortunately, Smashwords won't accept
any other format, and it's a long haul to produce the files in Linux.
The only way that seems to work is first to convert them to plain text,
then import that into oowriter, and finally save in doc format.
