Sure it does! It makes the company that makes Stuffit more money. :P If you mean Aladdin, it's not true, they offer a free upgrade to Stuffit Deluxe 6 from any previous version. I know, a buddy of mine found an ancient copy of Stuffit 2.0 and managed to get a free upgrade to 6.0 for Mac OS X.
