I missed part of this thread, but if you are split tapping and getting extra letters, are you sure touch typing is not enabled? You should make sure you have standard typing selected before using the split tap. If you have standard typing selected and are still getting extra characters,

I have ended up deleting my yahoo account completely from the phone. I can pick up the mail elsewhere. I've had trouble with my phone months now. I was told it was a Yahoo problem, and it will be, since I've had a hassle because of the password issue. Sorry I have nothing better for you. Joney
