It is not being caused by voiceover because I turned my voiceover off just now
when I saw your messages and it does not help. I however am running an iPhone
13 just like the person who wrote the email and mine is not working. Also I
don’t know what the problem is.

I've tested it with VoiceOver and it works perfectly for me.
It is more likely there was a temporary glitch in the internet connection.

Have you had your wife and you checked your phone with VO turned off to see if
the problem occurs? If not, then bingo, the problem lies with Vo. Then I'd be
contacting Apple support as soon as possible.
