hi Candy, no not quite. The thing is, once the phone has been activated, I know you don't have to have a card in after that. I had an iPhone 4s for a while which had been my main phone, and then I upgraded to a 5S and kept my old for S. It worked fine. Here, the issue is getting a brand-new
