The apple tv has two outputs, HDMI and toslink (fiber optic). To get audio out
o an rca setup, you'll need a tos link to rca adaptor of some sort.

As Larry pointed out, HDMI and Optical out are the only outputs on the Apple
TV. If you plan to connect your Apple TV to your LCD TV via HDMI and you have a
pair of powered speakers connected to your TV's optical audio ot then yes, this
should work as long as you are able to switch

how best to get decent sound out of my Apple TV. However, I understand this
may not be the proper list for such a question. So if this is beyond the
scope of this list please feel free to write me off list and
difference is I have the
optical plugged into a surround sound amplifier.
