Hi Rob, As Larry pointed out, HDMI and Optical out are the only outputs on the Apple TV. If you plan to connect your Apple TV to your LCD TV via HDMI and you have a pair of powered speakers connected to your TV's optical audio ot then yes, this should work as long as you are able to switch
