Ask for electronic keypad locks from well-known companies like Schlage, Weiser,
Yale, Tamor etc.
Make sure you specify you want just an electronic lock, not a smartlock unless
of course you do want a smartlock.

Hi,
I have one of these locks for many years. It uses a nine volt battery. It is
just like installing any other lock. You don’t need a professional.

Wow, both my keypad locks have the two rows with the lock button all by its
lonesome above the 3 which is right in the middle above the top row.
I really don’t find this at all inconvenient. I did have a lock before with a
phone keypad layout and once I got the other one it became second nature
My mom has a keypad lock like the one you mentioned. It drives me crazy,
because the numbers go from 1-5 along the top row, and 6-0 along the bottom
next row, with some unknown button right underneath the 8. I really wish it had
the numbers in a standard telephone layout, but I'm at their house
Most of these locks are available at Home Depot, Best Buy also has some, but at
least Best Buy Canada does not seem to sell the Schlage Sense.
Definitely if you want just a basic electronic lock with keypad Home Depot or
another large building supply store is a good place to start.

to have a backup plan, somebody you can call and ask for help, just in case.

Well, I wasn't so interested in Alexa because of the same reason you
mentioned. However, I am interested in the Home kit idea and being able to
change things as far as codes when away from home. Now all I have to do is
figure out the model number and where that might be. It really sucks when
Alexa doesn't work with doorlocks or security systems.

Thanks a million folks for this valuable information.
I do not have a security company, and I have no intention to hire one. It is
simply not needed in my area.
I asked my question because I have a tendency to lock myself out often. That
is why I thought of fingerprint or digital lock.
Now, I
Find out the exact model and Google it, you’ll find all the features, specs and
most likely a user manual in PDF.
I don’t know why anybody in their right mind would want to Alexa enable a
doorlock. Alexa has no security as far as I can tell and if somebody knows you

We have a Yale key pad lock on our door that was provided by our security

These locks are quite accessible as Sieghard describes. We have one with a
touch screen which I can unlock with my iPhone or an actual key. The lock on
our backdoor has a tactile keypad. Neither lock was all that expensive and

Not any more, quite a few electronic lock companies made fingerprint doorlocks
years ago, I had one and so did a friend of mine, and they were the biggest
pain in the neck.
Depending on how much you want to spend, you are much better off with an
electronic lock with a keypad or a smartlock
