You mean hold down the Power Button for 12 seconds. I can't see anything, as an
old lady told me back when I was young, she said about herself, "I couldn't see
the moon if it was on the end of my nose."

OK, thanks. That was how it was with my SE.
I hope I don't miss any more calls, but that has happened to me on two
different occasions.

someone needs to change the subject since this thread now has nothing to do
with answering a phone call.

For about 12 seconds are until the Apple sign appears if you can see a bit.

Sieghard,
It is good to know how to do this reset on a modern phone, for a while,
people didn't know how to do it. But people should pay attention when you say
not to hold the power button too long, in that if you do, it goes into
recovery mode, the only way to get it out is to connect it
I've always just held in my power button for a few seconds and double
tapped on the power off when my voice over comes up. I've never held
in any of my volume buttons.

I have an iPhone 8, as far as doing a hard reset you press and hold the power
button for about 10 or 12 seconds after first pressing and releasing volume up
and volume down.
I would not recommend to hold it too much longer than that and if you wear a
wired headset you may hear a small click or

How long do you have to hold down the power button when doing a forced reset?
Is that the last step in doing a forced reset or, do you have to also tap
Hi Anna,
OK, I never paid attention since I only press Volume up and Volume down if I
want to force a reset.
There maybe fewer controls on that screen, but whenever I press and hold the
power button, after a few seconds Voiceover says "Power off" and that is the
button which has focus so all I
Hi Sieghard,
If you press Volume Up, then Volume Down, and only hold the Power button for a
couple of seconds, a simple screen with a Power Off button opens. I use this
method to shut down all the time, and I think the result is exactly like the
method you describe except the Power Off screen
If all you want to do is to turn your phone off, just press the power button
and hold it until the "Power off" button appears, Voiceover will announce it,
then just double tap and that's it.
First pressing Volume Up, then Volume down and then pressing and holding the
power button is forcing a
To power your phone off, press volume up or down button along with the side
button for a couple of seconds. Then you will want to double tap on power off.
