Only thing is, that the pc that I used to sync the iPad with is down, and I
don't know when I'll be able to have it running again. Can I possibly update it
to the new iOS 7, and have the jb gone then?

Do the restore through iTunes; unfortunately this is standard
behaviour for jailbroken devices.
