The only aspect that it digital is the talking function. Otherwise it works
just like any other thermostat.

The VIP 3000 looks really good, has a 5 year warrantee and everything talks, so
using the iPhone is not necessary.

Actually the VIP 3000 says it does work with analog. I'm not sure if
it's that there system is old or what.
