Richard, that is what happened to me when I first got my SE, really drained the battery just playing cards. I am surprised at how easy it is to get used to not having a Home Button. I don't think that they'll ever come back, even if they come out with a new SE - they occupy screen space.

Along with using extra battery, it is supposed to wake up your phone when you pick it up. But, if it is in a bag/purse, that motion can cause it to constantly wake up, thus using extra battery. If one did not use a passcode or face ID, it would be the same as pressing the home button, or the
