Hello Keith,
If the books you need aren't available from the iBook Store, try Kobo books.
The Kobo app is accessible on the iPhone and they have a huge selection of
books.
Cheers,
Anne

I am going to need to do some reading for my job, and many of the books
are available for the Kindle. Is there a way to read these books using
the iPhone?
Your thoughts are much appreciated.

You
UB. Stanza will do the job though as well as a free online EPUB
converter.
I apologize if I have said too much.
