Hello Everyone,
When I enable the Speak Screen Controller on my iPad, in order to use the
Siri Voice to read Kindle Books, etc. I cannot seem to find a way to locate
the controller via VoiceOver. For that matter, I cannot get the 2-finger
swipe down gesture to work, especially in the Kindle app
I used to use speech screen over voiceover because I could have it read
continuously even when the phone was locked. This is not the case. I’m not sure
if it goes to the next page automatically or not I will have to verify this.
*update!** speak screen will still turn the page automatically

funny thing is I use it all the time

hen review the results, "spoken Content, Accessibility > Spoken Content"
is the second result and if you flick through the rest of the results you even
get to one which says "Speak Screen", it still indicates you find it in
"Accessibility > Spoken Content", but
Go to settings, Accessibility, spoken content and turn off speak screen.
That should put things right again.

Hi,
All of the sudden now when I try to get to the top of my phone screen to get to
notifications, I keep getting a pop up for speak screen saying minimize and
stop and playback speed. I remember seeing that a long time ago and forget how
I got it to stop appearing, any advice would be helpful

The settings under accessibility, Spoken Content, are mostly directed at people
who do not use VoiceOver.
Speak Selection puts up a button when text is selected so you can have that
text spoken.
Speak screen allows you to swipe down with two fingers from the top of the
screen and have it read

It allows the screen to be spoken when you do a two finger swipe down from the
top of the screen, i.e. the status bar.
When this is on, you can then lock your phone and it will keep reading.

I get almost all of my books from Bookshare; so don't use Apple Books; but I
know that is not available to everyone.

You do NOT have to choose between VoiceOver and Speak Screen! If you have both
VoiceOver and Speak Screen enabled, you can put focus on the Status bar, do a
2-finger swipe down and, when the voice starts reading, lock the iPhone by
briefly pressing the power button. The voice continues reading
will stop reading.
But, those who do not use VoiceOver, but want some things read to them can turn
on speak screen, use that same gesture, lock the phone, and the reading will
continue until they stop it or it runs out of things to read.

I am positive I was not using VoiceOver to read the screen with the Kindle
app. I know this, because my VoiceOver speech rate and speak Screen speech
rate are completely different. They were both speaking at the same time
without any issues

You can command Siri to speak screen while Voiceover is on and do a
two-finger-double-tap to pause it. You can also lock the screen while reading
from a web page or iBooks. It will keep reading in the background while you get

in iBooks it started working again.

Hi Reggie, sorry you've had trouble playing the audio. Audioboom have now
introduced a ridiculous policy requiring people to have Audioboom accounts if
they want to play audio from their website.

Hi all,
A tip for you. Touch anywhere on the status bar before doing the two
finger swipe down to invoke speak screen. I'm not sure where I got this
from but it works for me so try that.

Hi Sean, yes, this is all covered in the demo. YOu have to stop speak screen
using the speak bar, which can sometimes be difficult to track down.
