My major complaint with IM+ Pro was that the editor was nonstandard. I found no
way to insert text into the middle of a message, make edits to the text, or
select text and delete it. The only way was to erase by character sequentially

I'm really not sure why you think it's clunky but your subject line
strongly implies it is not accessible.
It is quite accessible.
Either you think it isn't or you should rephrase.

I would instead update Im Pro and see if it's more or less clunky than
it was before. Personally I like Im Pro and don't find it clunky.
