I did a test with iOS using the braille edge yesterday and here are the some of
the pros and cons.
The edge allows you to either use it iOS or you can use the take notes with
the edge it self.
How ever when using with iOS when typing notes with the edge iOS doesn't

ok, what would be the equivalent of uncontracted braille, for my
curiosity, since the contracted wants to add letters to some things,
such as the word people if you put in a p.

Also remember that input and output are now separated in iOS 8. Space-g now
controls output while space-236 controls input. Both of these are three-way
cycles through six-dot, eight-dot and contracted.
As for eight-dot or six-dot, neither will give you contracted braille though
