Saved the following information for relabeling various icons, but don't know
if it will apply to buttons:
To assign custom labels using VoiceOver:
Find the element that you would like to rename, then double tap and hold
with 2 fingers. A text field will then pop up

Yes, you are absolutely right with these instructions and it does work for
buttons as well.
